Names
Names in the Sirin culture. Names are an essential part of identity, shaping the nation. The standard convention for names is that the first name is chosen by both parents in whatever method they prefer. Than the last name is chosen by the parent of the opposite gender, and made by taking their first name and adding the ending [et] or [t], alternately the ending [us] or [s] can be used.
For example a daughter will take her fathers last name plus [et].
In the case of this not being possible such as the parent dying before the child is born or the child is an orphan they will take the name of their remaining parent firstly or the last name [noset] if chosen by their care giver or if they have no parents alive.
The middle name is determined by the parents but is generally either the name of someone else important or an adjective, sometimes based on the time of the year of recent events.
Some example names are as follows
[kelo alabir davidet] ~ (girl) kelcye winter davidson
[sarel sorel ara’it] ~ (boy) sam spring arenson
[la’im bil noset] ~ (boy) liam other orphanson
[oliva vakon aliket] ~ (girl) olivia eternal alexson
Note that the “son” translation is just a holdover of english, the [et] particle is gender neutral.
