The Plants of the World
Rilas
This is the titular crop of the world, Rilas is a potato and rice like food, it grows in small clusters in the ground, these clusters being around 7-12 Rilas, each being about the size of a blue berry. These have a rather short growing cycle and so if timed right you can grow two or three crops per year, however yields are not as high as rice and so in the end its only slightly more food. Rilas is fairly hearty and so can have at least one growing cycle per year for the entire worlds climate zones.
Rilas is easily made into breads and flour but it can also be boiled and eaten like rice or potatoes. Due to its smaller size it is more efficient to pack than potatoes but less so than rice.

They are called a berry due to their shape and texture, being much closer to a berry in texture, still these are taxonomically distinct from berries.
Rengal flowers
