Adjectives and Adverbs
Adjectives and Adverbs are put together into the same category as they have an identical function. Unlike in English a descriptor can be used for either a verb or a noun and no distinction is made between the ability to change the meaning of verbs or nouns.
While modifiers can act as adjectives or adverbs they have already been covered and work slightly differently.
In Si’irin most Adjectives and Adverbs come after the initial word, for example “the red apple” -> [dal pomira losa]
Some Adjectives do come before the noun, they are broadly in these groups. Status, Quantity, and Age.
Status refers to a state of being such as gender, social class or profession . “we study male frogs” -> [on etudir son ribitas]. “hello professor Steve” -> [sava muna’adil seteve]
Quantity refers to either definite quantities such as “seven goats” -> [ sak karabin] and not that if more than one object is referenced than plurality marker on the noun is not needed. They can also be used for non definite quantities “many boats” -> [sa’as siledos].
Lastly age, this is used for direct years but also words such as “new” and “old”. “we live in new Sirinal” -> [ol dilat nil neta Sirinal ]
